LOS ANGELES — Gavin Stone delivered a standout performance on the mound, and Max Muncy made a triumphant return with a clutch two-run homer as the Los Angeles Dodgers blanked the Seattle Mariners 3-0 on Monday night at Dodger Stadium.
Stone (11-5) was in complete control, striking out 10 batters over seven scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and two walks. The 24-year-old right-hander showcased his best form, dominating a tough Mariners lineup while earning his career-high 11th win of the season. “I’m just focused on getting wins for the team,” Stone said. “It’s great to see the hard work paying off.”
The game remained scoreless until Gavin Lux broke the deadlock with a solo homer in the seventh inning, marking his ninth home run of the season. Lux’s hot streak continues, as he’s now hitting .333 in August with three homers and 10 RBIs.
Max Muncy, returning to the lineup after an injury, put the game out of reach with a two-run shot in the eighth inning, his 10th of the year. “Coming back against one of the best fastballs in the league wasn’t easy,” Muncy said. “It feels good to contribute right away.”
Joe Kelly pitched a clean eighth inning, while Evan Phillips closed it out for his 16th save of the season. The Dodgers’ win keeps them atop the NL West, maintaining a three-game lead over the San Diego Padres.
The victory marked the fourth straight win at Dodger Stadium as the team continues to build momentum in the final stretch of the season. With key players returning and Stone’s continued development, the Dodgers look well-positioned for a deep playoff run.
