Fabio Vieira put Arsenal ahead in the first half, volleying Reiss Nelson’s deep cross into the far bottom corner. The match saw three players booked and several intense moments. Karl Hein denied Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke and summer signing Daniel Jebbison with crucial saves. However, Hein was unable to stop Antoine Semenyo’s deflected strike, which leveled the score.
Bournemouth’s goalkeeper Neto kept the game level by denying Leandro Trossard late on, leading to a pre-planned penalty shootout. Ryan Christie’s missed penalty proved decisive, giving Arsenal the win.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta explained Emile Smith Rowe’s absence, citing ongoing transfer negotiations with Fulham. “There are things happening in the background and we decided the best thing to do was to keep him away from the game,” Arteta said.
This match concluded Bournemouth’s California tour, while Arsenal look ahead to facing Manchester United at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Saturday.
Arsenal’s Youth Focus
Arsenal’s commitment to youth development was evident, with four young players featuring against Bournemouth. Ethan Nwaneri, just 17, impressed with his confidence, and Ayden Heaven showed promise in defense despite a challenging lesson from Solanke. Salah-Eddine Oulad M’hand, at 20, posed a threat down the left wing, hinting at a bright future.
Solanke’s Form Continues
Bournemouth wore their new kit designed by Michael B. Jordan, a part of the club’s ownership group. Dominic Solanke, a key player for Bournemouth, continued his impressive form, being the team’s biggest attacking threat throughout the match. Manager Andoni Iraola has high hopes for Solanke as the club aims for a historic European spot this season.
