Arsenal Beat Bournemouth on Penalties in Los Angeles
In the opening match of their U.S. tour, Arsenal secured a 5-4 victory on penalties over Bournemouth after a 1-1 draw in Los Angeles. Fabio Vieira gave the Gunners an early lead, latching onto Reiss Nelson’s cross and firing into the far corner. Bournemouth equalized through Antoine Semenyo after Karl Hein’s deflection left the Arsenal goalkeeper with no chance.
Despite late efforts from Leandro Trossard, Bournemouth held on to force the pre-planned shootout. Ryan Christie’s miss ultimately handed Arsenal the win.
Mikel Arteta’s decision to keep Emile Smith Rowe out of the squad sparked transfer speculation, with the player reportedly linked to Fulham. Arteta commented, “There are things happening in the background, so we felt it best to keep him out.”
Bournemouth, under Andoni Iraola’s guidance, continued their California tour, following a draw with Wrexham earlier. Arsenal will next face Manchester United in the SoFi Stadium on Saturday.
