DOWNEY, Calif. – Authorities have confirmed that three men were killed in a shooting over the weekend near a homeless encampment in Southern California.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire shortly before 9 p.m. on Saturday at a dry riverbed near Interstate 105 in Downey, according to a police statement. Upon arrival, they found three men suffering from gunshot wounds. Tragically, all three men were pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the shooting remains unclear, but police indicated that it “appeared to be an isolated incident.” The investigation is ongoing.
ABC 7 reported that the shooting occurred near a homeless encampment in Downey, a city with a population of about 14,000, located approximately 25 miles (40 km) southeast of downtown Los Angeles.
